A classic Italian Fantic GT 4 TX200 Gran Turismo Moped.

Fantic Motor was created in Barzago near Milan by Henry Keppel and Mario Agrati circa 1968. The aim was to produce fun bikes for the USA market, they produced a successful range of mini bikes, including trikes and choppers before they set about building their first motorcycle in 1971. Described by Motorcycle Mechanics Magazine in 1977 as the closest a moped will ever get to a real motorcycle, the Fantic GT was faster than other Fantic models of the time also being more smooth and comfortable. The GT was produced until 1980 where it was found to be reliable and easy to start with the controls positive and responsive.

Stainless steel front and rear mudguards, rubber front mudguard extender, chrome rear shock absorbers, CEV speedometer, rear tail light with reflector, rear luggage rack, electromagnetic horn, engine cut-out button, fuel valve, original Fantic motor embossed seat, chrome exhaust.

This late series bike is finished to a very high standard. The light and sturdy tubular steel frame has been powder coated black and the fuel tank professionally painted to give a deep gloss finish. The correct Fantic Motor decals with fuel mixture sticker proudly on display is perfect. The chrome brightwork has an excellent shine with just minor pitting to the front forks. The original seat with the Fantic Motor embossed logo has minor stretched stitching to the front but this the only flaw in a near perfect seat. All electrical equipment is in working order and chrome exhaust is stunning. Simply a wonderful 80’s example.

The Fantic motor Minarelli two-stroke 49cc air cooled engine is quoted to produce 7.2 bhp @8000rpm and capable of speeds up to 60.5mph unrestricted, making this no normal moped! All components are fully detailed to a high standard and the original Dell’Orto SHA 14 carburettor remains fitted. The bike has a four speed foot change transmission with a chain drive.

The original Italian Grimeca 12 Razze alloy wheels are in good condition showing only minor blemishes to the paint finish and shod in Pirelli Mandrake 2.75-18 tyres. Drum brakes front and rear provide adequate braking of this sporty Moped.

This fantastic Moped was first registered in Italy on 15th September 1980, so was one of the last to be produced. Bought into the UK by a young enthusiastic Yorkshire farmer in the early 80’s where he used it on his farm until being laid up in a barn. This rare bike was found years later where it then underwent refurbishment over many years until it was finally finished and registered on UK roads in 2012 and used on the moped show scene. This brilliant example is now ready for the next lucky customer to enjoy.
